The MCBA book club is for students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. We are reading through books that have been nominated for the Massachusetts Children's Book Award. It's not too late to join the book club - or read enough books to vote for the award! In order to vote, students must have read (or listened to) at least 5 books from the list. All participants are encouraged to read additional books from the list. If you can't make the meetings, you can still read books from the list on your own and vote in April!
This book club will meet monthly to discuss one book from the list. No registration is necessary, but you'll need to pick up a copy of this month's book from the circulation desk and read it before the meeting. At meetings, we'll discuss the book, play games and do activities, and more!
In January, prepare to discuss City Spies by James Ponti.
"Sara Martinez is facing years in the juvenile detention system for hacking into the foster care computer system to prove that her foster parents are crooks. But then she gets a second chance when a mysterious man offers her a chance to join a group of MI6 affiliated spies."
Meetings will be in-person. Winter sessions will meet in the 2nd Floor Conference Room in Queset House. Masks are required inside.
The MCBA Book Club will generally meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 3:30-4:30 PM. Remaining meetings are scheduled for February 23, & March 23, 2022. April's meeting date will be announced at a later date.
