Boos and Brews A Scary Good Time!

A note from Marion Wingfield, Development Director

Dear all,

On Friday night, Queset House was eerily transformed from its usual stately self as a learning commons into a rocking and rollicking Boos and Brews, our 2018 Halloween extravaganza.

Lois Scanlon used her outstanding talents for several days to spookily & beautifully decorate the entire bottom floor of the House, including the elevator; psychics did readings for guests, hidden in the shadows of the second floor; DJ Keith Roberts kept the music blaring, while a haunted and harrowing scavenger hunt was in progress on the third floor. Guests showed up in droves dressed in incredibly wrought costumes worthy of the stage, had a skeleton's intestines full of appetizers to choose from, along with libations from Shovel Town Brewery (handed out by none other than Frank Altieri himself, also expertly costumed), custom-made (Corpse Reviver II, anyone?) cocktails funded and crafted by Ed Hands, with a stand-alone wine bar run by Larry Mowatt and John Barry. It was a fine night, a complete departure from anyone's notion of a library. But then again the Ames Free Library flows with its patrons, following their lead. Queset House has probably never seen the likes of our Halloween revelers and the wild dancing that ensued. A conga line of costumers through the house ensured the judges could get a good view of our guests, and soon afterward the awards were handed out.

And of course, the Red Sox were playing on a couple of screens.

It goes without saying we couldn't have pulled such a wonderful party off without the support of SO many people. Generously sponsoring our event were the Avery Lee Williams Family Trust, Mansfield Bank in Easton and the Friends of the Library. Food was donated by Hilliard's Chocolates, PieZoni's Pizza, Bill's House of Pizza, Town Spa PizzaThe Pizza Depot, and the Beanery on Washington. The Shovel Town Brewery generously donated two much-coveted growler packs.

We couldn't have done this without our many generous and dedicated volunteers.

To all of you who supported this wonderful event, THANKS FROM ALL OF US!! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR?
