Pick Your Poison Book Club
Imagine...
You're innocently going about your day when suddenly, out of the corner of your eye, you see something thrilling. It’s a witch! She’s holding something out to you. Is that a poisoned apple in her hand? Nope! It’s a flyer for the Ames Free Library’s NEW choose your own adventure-style book club. She croaks out, “Pick Your Poison Book Club is for kids in grades 3-5.” Hey, that’s you!
Should you:
A) Excitedly tell your grown-up?
B) Make sure they mark the date in their calendar?
Storytimes in the Children's Room
Every week, the Ames Free Library hosts three storytimes in the Children's Room: Wiggleworms, Babytime, and Family Storytime.
Best for mobile toddlers, Wiggleworms features songs, rhymes, and a story or two to keep little ones engaged. This program meets every Tuesday at 10:30am with Miss Alyisha in the Children's Room and runs for about 30 minutes.
Paws to Read
Paws to Read is the ulti-mutt program for animal lovers! One Thursday each month, from 4:30 - 5:30 PM, Regan and her therapy dogs, Cali and Laddie, will be visiting the Library.
And what do her Anatolian Shepherds love more than anything else in the world (except maybe treats)? They adore being read to! Register in advance for a 15-minute session with a furry friend and practice your reading skills in front of a rapt, nonjudgmental audience. This program is for independent readers.
